Was Gadhafi’s Death Justified?

On Thursday 20^th of October, 2011 will forever be ingrained in the minds of many Libyans and people all over the world alike. Colonel Muammar Gadhafi was confirmed dead by so many reports including pictures and videos as evidence of his death, bringing the end to a war that has raged on for almost a year.

I did not celebrate as every other Dick and Harry was, by updating their Twitter and Facebook statuses with all sort of congratulatory messages to Libyans. I am not a person who will celebrate over the death of another human being, no matter how vile or despicable the person might have been.

When I read some of the reports, saw pictures and watched videos of his death, I could not help but notice some discrepancies between the videos I saw and the accounts of the rebels who captured him. They said he died of his wounds from stray bullets, but in some of the videos of Gadhafi while he was alive, he was bleeding and being rough handled by his captors. I saw no sign of gunshot bullets. Then the videos of Gadhafi surfaced with his body having numerous bullet holes. The first question that came to my mind was, “Did the Libyan rebels murder Gadhafi?”

Gadhafi ruled Libya for a good 42 years and turned it into the most developed and stable country in the whole of Africa. A man who had amassed so much wealth under the sun, had so much pride and was strong headed was trapped in a storm drain by his captors, fished out and killed like a rat.

People would say that Gadhafi deserved to die that way because he was an ‘animal’. Well, I think that the people who stooped so low to his level to kill him are no better than him. Take for example, a mentally ill patient accosts a man on the road and they start fighting, nobody will know who is mentally ill between the two of them. The same applies to this situation.

He may have committed atrocities and abused human rights and he deserved to die by execution under the court of law, if found guilty for his crimes. But he was murdered like an animal and has still not been buried two days after his death, even though he was Muslim. The worst part is that his body is now used for show to anybody who cares to see, like an exhibit in a museum. All this nonsense should stop, and his body and that of his son, Mutassim (who was also killed by the rebels on the same day as his father) should be returned to their families for burial immediately.

The NTC needs to condemn whoever carried out this extra judicial killing. Because this could backfire as it would show that the Libyan rebels are also guilty of human rights abuse. The rebels are the same people who have been accused of human rights abuse and killing black Africans in Libya. These are not mere accusations. A thorough investigation needs to be made to check if these accusations are true or false. The UN and all human rights groups need to look into the death of Gadhafi and his son. This is a case that should not be swept under the carpet because he was a dictator who abused human rights of Libyans while he was their leader.

This madness should stop immediately and the NTC should figure out a way to start rebuilding Libya. They should unveil a detailed plan to Libyans on how they intend to move forward and restore their nation.

This unnecessary war that has claimed thousands of lives and rendered millions homeless is now over. A lot of work needs to be done at once to help shape a better future for their next generation. Libya should stand independently and reclaim the glory it once had as one of the best in nations in Africa.

Mistletoe by Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber’s song had to be my song of the week. 

My song for this week initially was 5 o’clock by T-Pain, Lily Allen and Wiz Khalifa but I did not post it to my blog on Monday as I normally do. I was a bit depressed this week. I had a lot of personal stuff on my mind, so I decided to take a break from blog world this week.

But when I came across Mistletoe and watched the video, I smiled, a genuine smile, not the fake ones I had been dishing out all week. I personally love this song because it reminds me of how sweet and innocent love can be sometimes. And I also love songs about Christmas. Justin has matured a lot in many ways, and it is evident in this video. I think this is a great song from him and he should keep it up.

Yup and my song of the week (last week), Criminal by Britney Spears, music video debuted about two days ago. As I promised, it would be on my blog. Enjoy.

This definitely has to be Britney Spears’ best video on her Femme Fatale Album for me. I love the story line, she looked beautiful and the guy was hot! It was a bit racy, but I expected that from her. The Princess of pop is still on top.

As for my initial song of the week by T-Pain, all I wanted to write about it was how sick his phone was. I do not know if that was an iPhone or another new phone maker in town, but all I am sure of is that I will do absolutely anything (nothing illegal though) to get that phone. Check out the phone in the video below.

I mean, who wouldn’t want that phone in their hands? It is bloody transparent for God’s sake. The song was amazing too, but that phone was the highlight of the whole video to me. 

This is a packed week for music for me.

Herbert Chavez, a 35 year old Filipino designer, took his Superman obsession to the heights when he underwent a number of surgeries to make him look more like his idol, Clark Kent aka Superman.

His obsession started as a child, and then he later started collecting Superman souvenirs over the years. Now his house is packed with Superman cups, bed spreads, action figures and life-size Superman statues.

He has two lives like Clark Kent. By day, he is a designer. After work, he is the "village superman" as the children often refer to him. But, apparently the children in his neighborhood love him which makes him very fulfilled in his life.

Chavez has undergone a series of procedures that have made his nose higher and slimmed down his thighs. He has had surgery on his cheeks, lips and chin, and injections to whiten his skin. He is not done yet apparently, as he wants to undergo other surgeries on his abs and get steel plate implants to lengthen his legs.

My take on this story is: W**T THA F**K?!!! I mean seriously what normal human being does to themselves. I mean I like Cat Woman, but I do not want to undergo surgery to look like her for God's sake! And, isn't he too old to be running around in a Superman costume everyday? He should save all that drama for Halloween which is close by. The doctors who performed those procedures on him really should have done a psychiatric test on him first. It was still a good job done, though. Just wondering where he got all the money for the procedures. Hope the guy ain't bankrupt.

I love Britney Spears a lot and I have bought her last three albums, Blackout, Circus and Femme Fatale, which I thought were all amazing.

Okay, this should actually be my song of the month because I have been listening to it none stop but let me just leave it as my song of the week.

Criminal is her last track on her album 'Femme Fatale' and I love it. The  only song on the album that I think is better than it is Inside Out. She had a poll on Facebook to decide which song to release between Criminal, Inside Out (my personal favourite) and Drop Dead Gorgeous. Criminal triumphed and became her fourth single.

The video will soon be out. Hopefully tomorrow.(lol) Well, anytime it is out it will definitely be on my blog. :)

Mahatma Gandhi Was a Racist.

I don’t mean to offend anybody, especially Indians that love Gandhi.

But…….

My villain of the month of October goes to Mohandas Mahatma Gandhi. I saw a blog written about him recently and I just had to write about it on my blog too.

I have not been particularly someone that was a die-hard Gandhi fan. I was just kind of indifferent to him and his achievements. I thought he never in particular affected my life or that of my ancestors, so I didn’t really care much for him. All that came to my mind was a man who helped liberate the Indian people from British rule and a man with a clever tongue. Shikenan!

Well to my surprise, I found out that he was racist. This revelation is so shocking to me, because my teachers in secondary school never told me anything of this sort about him. A man that I thought wanted peace in the whole world actually supported wars, apartheid and genocides. History has not done the people he oppressed and discriminated against justice at all.

He lived in South Africa for 20 years, and during those years he wrote different books concerning the black people while trying to liberate the Indians in SA from the British people. He called the black Africans ‘Kaffirs’ which was a derogatory term. He described them as: 

“Only a degree removed from the animal.” Also, “Kaffirs are as a rule uncivilized – the convicts even more so. They are troublesome, very dirty and live almost like animals.” Mar. 7, 1908 (Reference: CWMG, Vol VIII, pp. 135-136)

He also said:

“A general belief seems to prevail in the colony that the Indians are little better, if at all, than the savages or natives of Africa. Even the children are taught to believe in that manner, with the result that the Indian is being dragged down to the position of a raw Kaffir.” [local native of South Africa] (Reference: The Collected Works of Mahatma Gandhi, Government of India (CWMG), Vol I, p. 150)

He supported all British wars–Zulu, Boer, WW1, and WW2. In fact there wasn’t a war he did not support, he participated in some, thus enhancing the ability of England to continue colonization. 

He was also anti-Semitic. Gandhi wrote letters to his 'friend' Hitler and supported him. Gandhi’s horrific advice to Jews was to commit mass suicide. 

“We have no doubt about your bravery or devotion to your fatherland, nor do we believe that you are the monster described by your opponents.” Gandhi to Hitler.

There are much more atrocious things that he committed while he was alive. These revelations are mind boggling to me. The evidence is there and clear. The truth about Nigerian politicians.

Nigeria will never progress as long as we have business men running our country. Yes! Our "leaders" are no longer only evil politicians anymore but also evil business men.
During the election all we heard of were promises and promises of a better Nigeria when they are sworn into office. Five months later, Nigerians are not seeing even plans talk less of foundation being laid for some of those promises that were made. So I have concluded that they run Nigeria like a business enterprise. Any useful contribution to the country, like partaking in capital projects, is just a waste of funds to them when it could be in their bank accounts. All they want to make is maximum profit and get out.  Profit at the expense of the rest of us Nigerians. And we sit down looking at them like mumus. I don't blame them sha. If someone is robbing you blind and you don't call out for help, he will keep doing it over and over again.

I heard from a very reliable source that most politicians during the elections go to loan sharks for loans, and then use the money (which run into hundreds of millions of naira) for election campaigning which includes bribery, hiring thugs and supporters and so on. How in God's name don't people want them to steal when they  are in debt before they enter office and have to deal with loan sharks whose conditions before the loan was collected have to be met (scary!).

I am not in any way justifying embezzlement and corruption by our "leaders". I am just putting another perspective as to why politicians have to steal money from Nigeria (apart from greed and trying to maintain their lavish lifestyles).

This post was just an after thought when I saw the following headline:
EFCC Arrests Daniel, Akala and Doma Over N101 Billion Fraud

Well, hopefully EFCC will see these ones through to the very end. Otherwise, they should stop blowing smoke and go back to the background.

(I can bet my....... *thinking*........... *smh*... insert anything valuable that they will not make a conviction, not in three years, not ever!)

When petrol prices go to double N65 per liter in 2012.....

Our "leaders" have finally put the nail in the coffin for the Nigerian masses. As from 2012, petrol will no longer be at N65 per liter. It will be double that, all in the name of funding capital projects and minimum wage.


In a country that exports oil at an average of over two million barrels of oil per day, a non-Nigerian would think that Nigeria would have a lot of refineries to refine this same oil into petroleum products and sell at really low prices to Nigerians. But that is not the case. It seems only exporters of oil, importers of petrol and the "looters" in government enjoy this so called "black gold" as the rest of us Nigerians have not seen any dividends of it. The government's reason for subsidising petrol was because the importers have been bringing into the country petrol at nearly N135 per litre and because it would be hard for Nigerian people to pay that type of money for petrol. And so the importers were paid N50 for each litre by the government while we pay the rest. This subsidy has cost the government about N1.3 trillion which they say should have been used for capital projects to develop Nigeria.


There are many flaws, concerning this latest move:

• Nigerians have not been briefed about any detailed plan on how our government intends to use this extra money to the benefit of our country. All we hear are talks about capital projects which are vague and minimum wage. Our main fear is that most of the money would be misappropriated and end up in private pockets.
• This is a terrible time to remove these subsidies especially as we do not have any working refineries on ground yet to help ease the suffering of people who would have to pay nearly N150 per litre. Most people are unemployed or underpaid. We have barrage of youths on the streets who are idle and looking for any little change in environment to be incensed and go on a destructive spree.
• Importers would be kings of the land as they would dictate the prices of petrol as they please. They could also create artificial scarcity which would further increase the prices and suffering of people. 
• People with cars or okada who were struggling to pay for fuel at N65 per liter would result to trekking to their destinations. Many people would also be without power for most of the time as using generator sets would be a luxury. Prices of everything would go up because petrol is used for nearly every thing in Nigeria. Food prices would be hiked to defray transportation costs and costs of using generator sets, which is an absolute necessity would make the cost running businesses shoot up.
• Minimum wage which was set at N18,000 and fought for many months would amount to nothing as inflation would make it useless to anybody.

Removing these subsidies is not a bad idea at all. But seeming as we do not trust our "leaders" to ever do the right thing at the right time, the government will need to go back to the drawing board and look at it again because it going to be in the interest of nobody but those in power that control our resources.


If this plan goes through, then it is clear that President Goodluck Jonathan seems to have no regard for the plight of the Nigerian people. 


Life is already hard enough for most Nigerians Mr. President. Please do not bring this country down to her knees.

I woke up this morning feeling very pissed, took a shower and then decided to check my Facebook and then I saw and read this  post.

Every abortion is just…

One more heart that was stopped.

Two more eyes that will never see.

Two more hands that will never touch.

Two more legs that will never run.

One more mouth that will never speak.

After reading this, it made me tear up a bit. I have always had this indifference to abortion, but now I am against it to a certain extent. Abortions should not be taken for selfish reasons like the lady above who destroyed a life because of a man, a man that would not want her even without the baby. I still stand for abortions for medical reasons only, like when the mother's life is being threatened due to the pregnancy

Proponents of abortion would say the baby is part of the mother's body and she can do whatever she likes with i. But standing from a moral not religious perspective, I think it is really wong to deny another person a life because of utter selfishness. 

If you are thinkng about aborting a baby and you are reading this post, please I urge you not to. The child you are about to sacrifice for your well being might just come back later in life to haunt you forever.
